Mu Cang Chai

Mu Cang Chai, located in northern Vietnam’s Yen Bai province, is a paradise for photographers, renowned for its stunning terraced rice fields. These fields, particularly mesmerizing during the planting season (May to June) and the harvest season (late September to early October), cascade down the mountainsides in vibrant greens and golds. The region offers panoramic views and ideal conditions for photography, especially during sunrise and sunset. Key spots like La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha, and De Zu Phinh provide some of the best vistas.

Beyond its scenic beauty, Mu Cang Chai offers rich cultural experiences. The area is home to various ethnic groups, mainly the Hmong people, whose traditional lifestyles, colorful clothing, and local markets provide unique photography opportunities. Staying in homestays with local families enhances the cultural immersion. For those seeking adventure, the region also offers excellent trekking routes through the terraced fields and occasional paragliding events, allowing for breathtaking aerial shots. Visiting Mu Cang Chai not only promises incredible photos but also a deep dive into the serene landscapes and vibrant culture of rural Vietnam.

Annually we explore Mu Cang Chai during the rice harvesting period in September documenting this amazing change in landscape and document the villages and local tribes that work the fields during our GOLDEN HARVEST TOUR
