William Hamilton

Street and Documentary Photographer

William is one of our most experienced photographers and guides, and has worked with Vietnam in Focus since 2015.He has a BA in Fine Art Photography and has worked as a freelance photographer for many years. He used to shoot weddings and portraiture and has completed a wide body of commercial work. However, his personal work is mainly street and documentary-style photography.

Will has exhibited photographic projects including ‘I Am Alive’, a body of work concerned with recovering from depression, and ‘Shanghai Ritual’, a collaborative work shot in the streets of the densely-populated Chinese city. Other shows he has taken part in include; ev+a international, First Fortnight Arts Festival and Westport Arts Festival.

Will says

“If you would like to receive some feedback on your images, I would be happy to share my ideas with you. Looking at your own work through someone else’s eyes can be a very positive step in the goal of making better images. I can give you my analysis on your use of composition, movement, subject, detail, lighting, exposure, and all the elements that go into the mix of giving the ‘feel’ of an image. We can talk about editing techniques and discuss any other matter you have questions about.”

They Say

“William was fantastic, very generous with his time and knowledge, and his experience in how to approach people and scenes when doing street photography. We had a fantastic morning and we only wish we had done this tour earlier in our holiday. Highly recommended for photographers of any level at all.”
